WAR IN HEAVEN

You couldn′t see anything because your eyes were wild with terror
You weren′t conscious about anything but your body which was dropping down to a lower level
And I stood horrorstruck
While gazing for hours into space, the abyss facing me is hundreds of metres deep
And I would fain follow you but I guess to be afraid.
You fell into the heart of darkness, where everything has to be unknown
There was no need for you to realize which way east was,
No need to understand you were coming from the north
′Cause all things are the same when shadows rise and there′s no sun,
No sun to worship as a god.
You were thrown down to the surface of the earth
And pressed against the ground
Your ruin stemmed
From the revolution you′d begun, from the pride you always showed
But did somebody check your back? Perhaps you
Still
Carry wings.

(I got inspired by Dante’s Inferno (the Italian word for “hell”) which is, according to me, one of the most beautiful Italian poems! ^^ I thought about Lucifer and the fallen angels: they rebelled against God and were banished from Heaven!)
