GALAXIES AND SEAS

We exist to wonder
About the galaxies and seas
Solutions always vague
About how they came to be

We ponder the Egyptians
The sphinxes and their marks
How the earth can rotate
Why there’s night and dark

We ponder over mountains
And the cracks that fall between
Serenity and misery
Nothing’s ever like it seems

We lay our heads in beds
And over-thinking brings
Love and hate and remorse
And why we feel such things

We live in speculation
In fear of the unknown
We blindly make decisions
And then reap what we have sewn

Fires burn like cancer
We contain the treasures
Space exceeds forever
Still we find no answer

We are always searching
Searching for the greater
Never fully satisfied
So we worship a creator

Life is one big lesson
And certain paths do cross
Some of us wear crowns
Made of thorns and scratchy moss

But I am still searching
For the reasons to be shed
Of why on Earth I’m here
Before I’m better off dead

I have traveled the Earth
Said goodbye to the departed
But so again it seems
I am right back where I started

In the end the answers
Are not to our delight
Some may come to realize
Throughout the lonesome night

WHIMSICAL SURREAL DIJITAL ART OF JUSTIN PETERS

German self-taught Photoshop expert Justin Peters visualizes these surreal fantasies in his growing portfolio of digtial art. Inspired by Pablo Picasso’s quote, “Everything you can imagine is real,” Peters’ photo-manipulations merge unrelated, real-life images together to create magical worlds straight from the artist’s imagination.

Peters first became interested in photography in 2015, but quickly realized he didn’t want his images to depict reality. Instead, he learnt how to edit his photos on YouTube and began creating unique digital art inspired by surrealist painters.

Peters’ whimsical digital collages are made using digital stock photos. Many of the unexpected combinations include imagery from nature and science that have then been given the artist’s distinct surrealist twist. Peters reveals, “I hope that when people experience my work, they discover a new and different world, which they can dive into to prove that everything is possible when you open your mind.”

CAMUS’UN UYUMSUZ İNSANI

 

Albert Camus, ‘Yabancı’ kitabında ve ‘Sisifos Söyleni’ denemesinde ‘uyumsuzluk’ kavramını işlemiş; bu kavram paralelinde insan yaşamını, intiharı ve hayatı sorgulamıştır.

Camus’un bu eserlerinde temel aldığı ve ‘uyumsuzluk’ kavramını anlatırken etkilendiğini söylediği şey, Antik Yunan mitolojisindeki Sisifos mitidir.

Sisifos, yaptıkları sonrasında Zeus tarafından yeraltı dünyasında bir kayayı çıplak elleriyle yamaç boyunca yukarı çıkarmak ile cezalandırılır. Yamacın tepesinde kayanın durabileceği bir alan yoktur ve kaya her seferinde tekrar düşer. Sisifos, cezası gereği bu döngüde sonsuza kadar sürekli kayayı yukarı çıkartacaktır. Bu durum da Sisifos’ta umutsuzluğa sebep olur ve hayata bağlanma durumunda bir uyumsuzluk yaratır, içinde bulunduğu absürt durumu kabullenmesini sağlar.

Albert Camus da bu mitten beslenen düşüncesinde; acı çekmek, intiharı düşünmek, hayatı sürekli sorgulamak, umutsuzluğa kapılmak his ve düşüncelerinin düzene karşı bir uyumsuzluk yarattığını, tekrarlayan döngülerin içinde bir süre sonra anlamlı bir umursamazlık meydana getireceğini belirtiyor.

Düşünürün, ‘hayat hiçbir şey değildir, itina ile yaşayınız’ cümlesi de aslında bu uyumsuzluğu ve kabullenmeden gelen umursamazlığı açıklamamıza oldukça yardımcı oluyor.
